Hakan Hocaoğlu (Cameraman)

Hakan, who is one of the top-notch cameramen in Turkey, could be described as the eyes and ears of the Pusula Team. He has taken place in numerous projects during his twelve- year professional career. After working as a professional cameraman in the Can Agency, Söz TV and Olay TV, Hakan joined the Pusula team in 1997. Since then, along with the Pusula Team, Hocaoğlu observed many critical international affairs, such as the wars in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, through the eyes of his camera. He is now teaching camera classes at Kadir Has University.
Parug Demircioglu (Informatics Expert)

Parug is the informatics expert of Pusula Team. He still has been studying in the Department of Computer in Kadir Has University and will graduate soon. Actually, we will be relieved if he graduates as soon as possible because he is the one who shapes the soul of new ideas and extraordinary solution suggestions for our website www.pusula.tv . If there is anyone who see him hanging out at the canteen, please do not bother him because he might have some business to take care of.
Gürkan Ketenciler (Informatics Expert)

Having a degree in Computer Science from Istanbul Bilgi University, Gürkan knows all about computers. He did his dissertation on “Voice Enable Web Site for Visually Disabled People”. His internships at Odhya and Genbil Software companies helped him to gain new experiences in this field.
Aysen Rana Kumlali (General Coordinator)

Aysen is originally from banking profession. She retired from Garanti Bank in 2001. Since then she’s been working with Pusula as General Coordinator. Aysen who is considered as the right hand of Pusula in the sense of corperation, is still carrying on this task successfully.
Özgün G. A. Levent (Reporter)

Ozgun joined the Pusula Team on September 2004. Started her job as a production assistant, she is now the correspondent for Pusula News Program. Nowadays, Ozgun has been traveling the world with Mithat Bereket and Hakan Hocaoglu. Before joining our team, she lived in New York for three years and earned her Master’s degree on Media and Communications by graduating from the Fordham University of New York. During her studies, Ozgun had interned at ABC News Productions where she was a part of the team, producing documentaries for Discovery Channel, History Channel, A&E, etc. She then worked as a freelancer for a production house based in New York and gained further experience in documentary production. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree on Business Administration from the Yıldız Technical University of Istanbul.
After living abroad for three years, she returned back to Istanbul, which she calls home. She was born on January 8, 1979 and is happily married with Onur since July, 2005.
Gizem Yarbil (Producer Assistant)

Gizem graduated from Boston University College of Communications, Department of Film and Television. During her studies at Boston University, she made several short films, a documentary on inner-city, pre-school children and completed several internships including CNN Turkey Foreign News Department, Motion Picture “Abdülhamit Düşerken” by Ziya Öztan and Northern Lights Productions. After her graduation, she worked for New York Film Academy at Harvard University as a Teacher’s Assistant. In 2003, she relocated in New York City and started to work on film, commercial and documentary production. She worked as an assistant director and post-production supervisor at an Iranian docu-drama called “Who Gives Kisses Freely from Her Lips,” which portrays Iranian Women’s’ perspective on the issue of temporary marriage in Iran. She interned at Merchant Ivory Pictures and Ira Deutchman’s Emerging Pictures. She worked at a New York based film/documentary Production Company called Radioaktivefilm as an Assistant Producer where she participated in the post-production of a Palestinian documentary called “Palestine Blues.” In 2005, she moved to Istanbul, Turkey.
Kuntay Alpman (Producer)

Kuntay graduated from Koç University Sociology department. During his years at the university and after graduation, he received several awards such as “The student with the most contribution to social life during the first decade of the university”, “Best Student Activity Organization” and “Leadership Award”. He worked on several projects for Turkey Education Volunteers Foundation and attended the “Human Rights” certificate program at Sabancı University. He also participated in the Bosphorus-Gesellschaft International co-organized by the European Union and Turkey, and took part in several projects encouraging cultural integration. Completing his Master of Arts degree on European Studies at Boğaziçi University, Kuntay also worked as a research assistant for Prof. Fuat Keyman of Koç University International Relations Department. Finally, he worked as a researcher and production assistant for the daily news program “Anahtar”, produced by Mithat Bereket and Fatma Körünoğlu.

Here is a man who knows what he wants! Ersen who plans on the absolute success on the field of producing is just 24 years old. However, look at his career: He is a graduate from the Department Public Relations and Advertisement of the Communication Faculty of Marmara University. He was the correspondent of the first private television of Cyprus, Channel T, editing and camera assistantship, News Agency correspondent in the Near East University, correspondent of the News Agency in Marmara Communication and almost five years as a production assistant in Pusula. Ümit is one of the experienced team members at AMB Production in which Pusula TV is included. Ümit, who has been working for Pusula for ten years and undersigning many broadcasting during this time, is now the main editor and post production supervisor of the Pusula Team. We are happy to announce that he will continue on that.
Ayse Cavdar (Editor)

She graduated from the Journalism Department of Ankara University Communication Faculty. When she attended to the school in 1992, she started to work as a journalist in monthly and weekly magazines and as a producer in local radio stations in Ankara. Between 1996-97 she worked for Yeni Yuzyil newspaper as political reporter (specialist on right wing parties and communities). After graduation, she moved to Istanbul in 1998. In Istanbul, she worked for Nokta weekly magazine for a while. Then, she decided to make an MA at the History Department of Bogazici University in 1999. While making her MA, she worked for History Foundation as public relations responsible and project manager. Then, she worked for Atlas (a monthly geography magazine) as history editor. In 2003, she participated a documentary film crew working on "honor killings" issue, the documentary film named "Dialogues in the Dark" finished in the beginning of 2006.

Mr. Polat, who is the first in the known intellectuals of the sector on mobile technology and new media, has worked for the foremost companies of technology sector such as Siemens, Ericsson and Turkcell. Polat has been teaching new media classes at Kadir Has University. It is announced to those who want to enlarge their horizons in technology.

1997: Producer of the documentary about Mustafa Kemal Ataturk-“Devrimci’nin Guncesi”
1997- 1998: Producer of several demonstration and informative films for leading companies in Turkey like Philips, Garanti Bank, Eczacibasi Holding, Intema, and for civil organizations like AIESEC, ACEV, LIONS...
1998-1999: Executive producer of a children programme serial called “Yazz Vakti”.
1999- 2001: Producer, scriptwriter, editor of Pusula (Compass) News Programme
2000: Producer and script writer and editor of a documentary called “Zeugma: Sunken History”
2001: Producer, script writer of a documentary called “Two villages of Greek-Turkish Population Exchange”
2002: Producer, reporter and scriptwriter of a two episode documentary called, “Bin Ladin, El-Kaide and Islam” which was prepared in Egypt and Jordan.
2002: Producer and co-script writer of documentary called: “Hittites: The Curse of Anitta” Ozer is currently teaching ‘documentary film’ and ‘film production’ at Kadir Has University in Istanbul.
Mithat Bereket (President / Executive Producer)

Mithat Bereket was born in Ankara in October 10th 1966. After completing his high-school education at TED Ankara College, he graduated from Ankara University, Department of Political Science. He was a professional basketball player both at the TED Ankara College basketball team and at the Turkish National Basketball team. He finished his post-graduate studies at Lancaster University, Department of International Relations in England. His thesis was on “Cyprus”. He is still doing a research on “Radical Islam” at the same University.
Bereket was the chief news anchor for some significant affairs that NTV has covered. These affairs include former president of the United States, Bill Clinton’s visit to Turkey (9 hours live reportage), The OSCE summit in Istanbul (10 hours a day, for 2 days live coverage), The European Union Helsinki Summit (8 hours live reportage), Greek National Elections (live), Cyprus Elections (live), US elections (11 hours live reportage) and the World Trade Center attacks. He followed and covered many important international affairs including the Gulf War, the war in Bosnia, the war in Afghanistan, the conflicts in Algeria and Karabakh, the war in Chechnya, The Palestinian Intafada and the NATO operations in Kosovo. He is currently traveling around the globe as a war correspondent.
Mithat Bereket has visited many countries around the world and had exclusive interviews with crucial leaders, politicians, high-level executives and regular people. His most important interviewees include, Nelson Mandela, Benazir Bhutto, Muammar al-Gaddafi, Yasser Arafat, B. Boutros-Ghali, Teslima Nesrin, Tadeuzs Mazawiecki, Massoud Barzani, Jalal Talabani, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu, Frederick De Klerk, Antonio Di Pietro, Shamil Basayev, Ibrahim Rugova, Mikhail Kalashnikov, Jörg Haider and Bill Clinton.
Bereket, who has been a correspondent for 15 years, has been producing and hosting his own private news magazine “Pusula” since 1995. He produces an on-air show on a national radio station called Radio Time between 8:30 and 10:00 am. He also produces and hosts a daily news program called “Manşet,” which is broadcast on CNNTURK from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. He writes in the weekly Businessweek Magazine.
Mithat Bereket, who has been giving lectures on International Diplomacy and Daily Politics at Universities and high-schools around Turkey, is teaching “Media and Politics” at Kadir Has University.
